Words We Use

a list of common terms used in the workplace

 

SkyWire POS

Definition

EJ- Electronic journal

Stores sales and order info and can be used to retrieve individual checks

 

Profit center/revenue center

The lowest level of our organization structure for clients. This would be an individual outlet such as a coffee shop located in a hotel (site) for Boyd Gaming Company (Enterprise)

 

Shift4

Our main credit card processor. Uses tokens so that we are removed from having to hold credit card info.

 

FreedomPay

our other, less used payment processor

SQL

Database application used for storing all information for POS products.

JIRA

Ticket system used by development to track issues/bugs

VRA

- Vendor Remote Access for Boyd properties. Used when having to access Boyd computers in their environment

 

SecureLink

The software used for obtaining a VRA for Boyd

 

Sync

Also known as SymmetricDS. Used for linking the information between terminals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Profit Center/Revenue Center

An entity that produces revenue.  This could be a spa location, a restaurant, bar, or store.

Enterprise

The highest level entity representing the ultimate parent organization.  For example, Sun Coast would be a site, belonging to an Enterprise/Corporation called Boyd.

User

The operator of a device or software application.

GL

 GL, or General Ledger Codes are alphanumeric codes you assign to different debit or credit entries to make accounting easier and more functional

Tender

A form of tender used to pay for a check with the Point of Sale. (Terminal)

Product

 An item that can be sold, such as a Steak.

Property/Site

A site represents a physical location. An example might be a casino. A Site is the Parent entity of Business/Revenue Centers

Terminal

A device that processes transactions and handles the taking in of revenue. Typically, in the form of Cash, Credit Cards, or room charges.

 

 Tickets are used with your Hotel (PMS) Interface application. it allows items to be categorized by the type of revenue.  For example, you may have Products, Services, Taxes, Gratuities & Services, listed as Tickets in the Spa product

Daypart

The representation of a time period. “Lunch” might be a daypart that represents 10 am to 3pm.  Spa might have “Morning” to represent 8 am to 10 am.

User

A user is a person that interacts with the systems and has a unique set of credentials.

ExternalId

A reference to the ID for the same type of data instance on an external system. This is used to map data between interfaced systems.

Site where we access POS updates, documentation, hotfixes, and other relevant info. Serves as one of two main knowledge bases.
